  • Beachside Bandits near season’s end, prep for softball World Series

  • The Beachside Bandits 10-U travel ball organization first formed  under the supervision of Michael Shehorn and Head Coach Jason Courtney in August 2011. The team is currently finishing up an impressive first year under the leadership of Coach Courtney.

  • The Beachside Bandits 10-U travel ball organization first formed  under the supervision of Michael Shehorn and Head Coach Jason Courtney in August 2011. The team is currently finishing up an impressive first year under the leadership of Coach Courtney.
    Coach Courtney rallied the girls to play hard and work as a team. After only a few weeks of practice, the Bandits team played in their first tournament – the Halloween Havoc October 29 , 2011 held in Salisbury, Md. The Beachside Bandits placed second overall in the tournament.
    The Beachside Bandits organization practiced throughout the winter at the DSU Sports Complex in Dover. The team’s hard work during the winter months paid off and the new Bandits team played hard throughout the early spring and summer tournament season. The Bandits played a number of Open and Class C tournaments, including the Heat at the Beach II tournament held in Rehoboth. on May 12, where the team placed  second overall.
    On May 19, the Bandits won their first tournament – the Black Eyed Susan tournament held in Glen Burnie, Md. The Beachside Bandits team went on to be ranked #1 nationally as a 10UC USSSA team.
    After moving up to a USSSA Class B status, the team continued to improve and play well, placing second in the Smyrna Smash tournament in Smyrna. on June 9. Most recently, the Bandits were ranked second in the state after playing in the Delaware State Tournament held on June 24 in Roxanna.
    The Bandits end this organization’s premier year with an overall record of 22- 12. The coaches and families of these girls are very proud of their hard work this first year and are looking forward to heading to the USSSA 2012 World Series being held in Salisbury, Md. this week.
    The Beachside Bandits Organization will be holding try outs for the upcoming 2012-2013 season Saturday August 11. If you are interested in having your child try out for the Beachside Bandits 12-U fast pitch softball team, please contact Jason Courtney at beachsidebandits@yahoo.com.
