The semi-annual Dover NASCAR races kick off this afternoon at Dover Downs International Speedway with the “Lucas Oil 200” at 4:45 p.m.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race features some top up-and-coming drivers, along with some veterans, racing bumper-to-bumper 200 laps around Dover’s Monster Mile.
Since debuting in Dover in 2000, there has only been one repeat winner at the Monster Mile. Kyle Busch is the only driver to have repeated his victory in the 12 times the world truck series has been raced in Dover.
NASCAR is anticipating this tightly contested race to end with a fresh face showing up in the Sunoco Victory Lane.
The National Anthem before the race will be sang by Eva Katherine, a 13-year-old from Schuylkill County, Pa.
President of Heritage One, Inc. Tony Celebre will Grand Marshal the event and the invocation will be given by the Rev. Jake McCready of Grace Point Church of God in Smyrna.
The U.S. Coast Guard Mighty MH-65 Delta Dolphin helicopter based at the Coast Guard Air Station in Atlantic City, N.J. will do the ceremonial flyover.
