It's that time of year again. Race weekend is upon us. With a jam-packed weekend, race fans can meet their favorite drivers, tour the Speedway, stroll on the track, or sample some raceway fare. Check out five can't miss race weekend events.

Most of the action and focus will be on the mile-long concrete oval track known to avid NASCAR fans as the Monster Mile. However, the excitement of race weekend extends well beyond the track. So, here are a few things to do beyond the track.

1 Good eats

Of course, Dover International Speedway is known for allowing guests to bring coolers filled with their favorite foods and beverages but if packing a picnic lunch is low on your list of things to do, check out the ready-to-eat and made-to-order dining options available at the track.

For instance, Frankie's Monster Mile Café will once again be open and ready for business throughout the weekend. The Tuscan-style café offers the flavor and style of Frankie's Restaurant in a piazza-style, al fresco dining setting. Serving everything from Italian specialties to Tony Luke's cheesesteaks and Herschel's Famous 34 chicken. There will also be a variety of breakfast subs as well as wraps, fries, hoagies, burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, and sandwiches for lunch, dinner or a quick snack.

Frankie's will also have Deejay entertainment entertaining the munching masses.

The café will be open to race fans from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday, June 1, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 2, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 3.

2. FanZone

Eight acres, located outside of turn four of the track, FanZone entertains all weekend with a number of meet and greet opportunities, allowing fans to get up close and personal with their favorite drivers and racing personalities. Or, take a break from the race and do some rock-climbing, simulated racecar driving, listen to some music, or sample the fare made just for the fans.

Before they hit the track, the stars of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will meet with fans during the free autograph session from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Autographs are on a first-come, first-serve basis so fans are encouraged to stake out their spots early. Ward Burton, Jeb Burton, Todd Bodine, Paulie Harraka, and Cale Gale have all confirmed that they will be there and more drivers are expected to be added to the line-up.

3. Monster FunZone

Kids of all ages looking for free fun will find it at the Monster FunZone. Located outside of turn four of the track, right next to the FanZone and the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza.

A DJ will supply the tunes as people participate in face painting, an obstacle course, rock climbing and a moon bounce. There are also remote control cars, games, and loads of activities to entertain the whole family.

4. Segway Tours of the Monster Mile

Looking for a behind-the-scenes tour and some facts and figures about Dover's racetrack without all the walking? Try a Segway tour.

Cruise around the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza, take pictures on the same stage that drivers like Jimmy Johnson and Matt Kenseth have accepted their monster trophies, check out pit road and the front stretch of the track, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, the Infield Media Center, Monster Bridge overlooking turn three of the track.

All tours are led by a Dover International Speedway tour guide and each participant gets an earphone to hear the guide. Tours last approximately two-hours and 15-minutes, cost $75 and sell out quickly. To book a spot and reserve a Segway, visit or call (877) 318-7747.

5. Open Track Session

Super fans will have a chance to actually stroll down the front stretch of the Monster Mile prior to the Saturday race during "the 5-hour ENERGY Open Track Session" set to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, June 2. Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip will also be on-hand, participating in a hosted Q&A session.
