  • The Dover High girls tennis team tied for second at this weekend's Henlopen Conference Tournament at the Sea Colony in Bethany Beach. With 15 points apiece, Dover tied with Smyrna.

  • The Dover High girls tennis team tied for second at this weekend's Henlopen Conference Tournament at the Sea Colony in Bethany Beach. With 15 points apiece, Dover tied with Smyrna.
    Leading the way for the Senators was first doubles duo Sage Cole and Emma Patterson who placed second after losing to CR's Grace Widder and Caroline Bennett 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match.
    All three singles players from Dover placed third in the tournament. First singles Sarah Litchford defeatd Indian River's Grace Cummings 6-3, 6-3 in the consolation match. Second singles player Shannon Biddle beat Indian River's Kitty Cole 6-4, 6-2 for third place. Third singles player Victoria Lucas defeated Smyrna's Katherine Clark 6-1, 6-2 in the consolation match.
    The second doubles team of Lauren Hilderbrand and Alexis Guy placed fourth after losing 6-2, 6-0 to Indian River's Alyssa McManus and Ashlyn Calhoun in the consolation match.
    The Lady Senators were 9-5 on the season.
    Boys team finishes 6th in tournament
    With a total of five points, the Dover High boys tennis team finished the tournament in sixth place.
    The Senators best finish in the tournament was second place at first singles as Dover's Vybav Hiraesave lost to CR's Jared Morris in the championship match 6-0, 6-1.
    Second singles player Matthew Walter lost to eventual champion CR's Nikola Sijan 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinal match. Third singles player Cannon Giglio also lost in the quarterfinals, falling to Indian River's Danny Seeley 6-0, 6-2.
    First doubles duo of Paul Kim and Andy Zhena lost in the quarterfinal 6-0, 6-2 to CR's Trey Parker and Donnan Gravelle, who eventually won the first double title.
    The second doubles team of Aaron Tribbitt and Cedric Barnes also lost in the quarterfinal, falling 6-0, 6-3 to Seaford's Julio Ramirez and Jake Duke.
    The boys team was 8-7 on the season.
