Fifter Orchards is celebrating the 6th Annual Strawberry Festival this weekend with  an event aims to see strawberries in everything from lemonade and funnel cake to shortcake, smoothies, and ice cream.

All you can pick

A strawberry festival wouldn't be a festival without some freshly picked offerings, right? Fifer Orchards doesn't disappoint. Normally $2.89 per pound, the strawberries will be priced right for picking the day of the festival and people have been known to carry out as much as 10 pounds of berry delight. Pricing will be announced closer to festival day.

All you can eat

The event offers more than just the average festival fare with the delectable red berry sweetening everything in sight from lemonade, funnel cake and shortcake to smoothies and ice cream. Nage and Abbott's Grill will be on-hand with gourmet burgers and the competitive barbeque team The BBQ Grilles, will be firing up their grills with some of their infamous barbeque.

A strawberry recipe contest will also be held for all the budding berry chefs out there. Recipes need to be submitted by 11 a.m. for a chance at gift certificates and Fifer aprons.

All you can play

Festivalgoers should also bring their appetites for fun. There will be hayrides, pony rides, face painting, barrel train rides, a petting zoo and a rock-climbing wall.

Live music, on the stage and in the patch, will be loud and clear all day long. George and Ossi and the Stoney Run String Band will be delighting from the stage while Miss Jackie and John Sell will offer music to work to out in the patch.
