The Caesar Rodney baseball squad defeated Middletown for their 13th victory of the season on Saturday morning.
The Riders came back from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Middletown 13-5. CR scored 12 runs in the 6th inning led by Aaron Briggs who had 2 hits and 4 RBI. The inning was capped off by Kevin Clavier who stole home.
The Senior Day win for the Riders improves their record to 13-4 with only one regular season game remaining.
Currently, the Riders hold 2nd place in the Henlopen North behind 12-3 Dover. Caesar Rodney will finish off their season on Wednesday against Caravel.
The Riders have no doubt clinched a spot in the state tournament, looking to duplicate and improve upon last year’s showing. CR defeated Tatnall and Milford in last season’s tournament before losing a heartbreaker to Appoquinimink in the Semifinals 8-9.
The first round of the state tournament begins on May 22nd. With one game remaining, all that’s left for CR is to find out who they’ll face in the 1st round.
