  • The Dover Senators defeated Delmar on Thursday afternoon in come-from-behind fashion, 7-4.
Nick Spadafino and Seth Penniston led the way for the Dover offense knocking in two runs apiece.
Delmar struck first, scoring 2 runs in a 1st inning that could have been much worse for the Senators if not for starting pitcher Nick Spadafino wiggling his way out of further damage. Two innings later Delmar tallied two more runs to take a 4-0 lead into the 4th inning.
Dover got on the board in the bottom of the 4th, scoring 2 runs to cut the deficit to 4-2. The very next inning Dover dropped a 4-spot on Delmar, including a game-tying 2-run homerun by Seth Penniston. Penniston had also entered the game to replace Sapdafino on the mound. He was impressive, holding Delmar scoreless in the finally 4 innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 6 for the W.
The 7-4 conference win along with Dover’s 4-3 win over Appoquinimink puts the Senators at 11-2 on the year with 5 games remaining.  Dover increased their conference record to 8-2.
The Senators are in action on Tuesday afternoon at Seaford and return home on Thursday to take on Indian River.
