Roger “Poppy” Williams, 79, of Felton passed away Monday, March 26, 2012.  He was born on January 31,1933, in Hartly, DE to the late David James Williams and Eva Willey Williams.


Roger “Poppy” Williams, 79, of Felton passed away Monday, March 26, 2012.  He was born on January 31,1933, in Hartly, DE to the late David James Williams and Eva Willey Williams.

He was a devoted husband of 40 years to his late wife, Sara Vernier Williams, a father to four children, Patrik Williams and wife Melissa, Rebecca Williams, Elizabeth Martin and husband Silvio, and Andrew Williams and wife Anita as well as a grand-father to four grand-children, Tyler Williams, Lauren Williams, Dylan Martin, and Gabriel Martin.

He was a life-long farmer and a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Dover for nearly 50 years.  He graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and went on to attend Washington College in Maryland.  He also was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 30, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover followed by a graveside service at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery in Frederica.

Friends and family were also called Friday, March 30, 2012, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
