Alan Pleasanton of Leipsic died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was 61.


Alan Pleasanton of Leipsic died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was 61.

Alan was born in Dover and was the son of the late John, Sr. & Ruth Pleasanton. He graduated from Dover High School Class of 1969.

He spent his lifetime as a waterman on the Delaware Bay, crabbing, fishing, eeling, conching and oystering, as well as enjoying hunting. Alan started a waterfowl dressing company called Alleyoops Pickit in the 1970’s; he also started Delaware Blue Claws wholesale crab company in 1989. In 1998 he and his wife opened Pleasanton Seafood which they opened for their daughters. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family get togethers and crab parties on the deck. Alan was a great husband, father, poppop and friend, he will be sadly missed.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving and devoted sisters Betty Jean “BJ” Caniford and Debbie Keller and brother John “Jackie” Pleasanton, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandra Nan “San” Pleasanton of Leipsic; daughters, Nan Fox and her husband Jim of Leipsic, Mandy Ridgeway and her husband Shawn of Leipsic; grandchildren, Samantha, Leanne, Trevor, and Nathan Fox and Maci Ridgeway; nieces, Cheryl Carney of Magnolia, Brenda DeRocili of Dover and many other nieces and nephews; and close friend Mike

Collison.

Services were held on Sunday January 22, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 East Lebanon Rd (Rt. 10)., Dover. Friends were asked to call two hours prior.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Leipsic Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 131, Dover, DE or Delaware Hospice Center, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
