Tegan Deanna Penney passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012. She was 18.

Tegan was born on October 28, 1993 in Dover, Delaware, daughter of Bart and Amy Fifer Penney. She was a senior at Polytech High School, Woodside, and planning on attending the University of Delaware in the fall. She was currently volunteering at CR Pets in Rodney Village. Tegan was a strong, independent young woman who was adored by all her friends, was always there for them and gave them the confidence that they couldn’t give themselves. She loved being a big sister and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved reading, cupcakes, 4 leaf clovers, rainbows, and anime. She always expressed her individuality and definitely had her own style. Her faith led her to appreciate the beauty and rhythms of nature. Tegan loved thunderstorms and solitude. She loved to write stories and poetry, and enjoyed photography, especially photographing wild mushrooms, her cat, and herself. She will be greatly missed as we celebrate her life and she goes on to her next great adventure.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her sister Miranda Penney, maternal grandparents John and Connie Fifer of Camden, paternal grandmother Ruth Penney of Parsonsburg, MD, maternal great grandmother Wilma Fifer of Dover, a great aunt Carole Findley of Woodside, an aunt Patricia Penney of Parsonsburg, MD, a cousin J.C. McPherson and an extended family of friends and classmates.

A celebration of Tegan’s life will be 7  p.m. Thursday, January 19 at the Calvary Assembly of God, 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where guests will be received beginning at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Forgotten Cats, Inc., Suite 422, 4023 Kennett Pike, Greenville, DE 19807.
