Phyllis “Josephine” F. Stetler (Jo), of Dover, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.  She was 79.


Phyllis “Josephine” F. Stetler (Jo), of Dover, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.  She was 79.

Born and raised in Michigan, Ms. Stetler was the daughter of the late Clarence and Louise Foster Fullerton.  She attended Charlotte High School, married, and raised three children, Suzee, Cheryl, and Philip.  She was active in the United Methodist Church, was part of a bowling league and loved to spend time with her family.

In 1986, Ms. Stetler moved to the Dover, Delaware, area where she lived with and was cared for by her daughter, Cheryl.  She worked as a hostess in several area restaurants, including Arners and Denneys.  Ms. Stetler loved to garden, watch game shows and play with her beloved dog, Winston.  Although Ms. Stetler faced many health challenges, she always showed great strength and positivity.  Ms. Stetler was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Ms. Stetler is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Heslinga, of Dover; a son, Philip Stetler and his wife Teresa of Eaton Rapids, Michigan;  a brother, Tom Fullerton of Charlotte, Michigan; and two grandchildren, Alicia Erickson and her husband David of Newport, Minnesota, and Alan Stetler and his wife Rachel of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Ms. Stetler was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzee Shaver.

Memorial services will be held in Charlotte, Michigan, at the end of the week.
