Donn Michael Spittle, Age 58, of Dover DE passed away peacefully at Silver Lake Center, Saturday morning, December 17, 2011 surrounded by loved ones.

Son of the late Walter and Barbra Spittle.

Donn is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharron, his daughter, Shannon and her fiancé, Jason Nicholson, his two sons, Kii and Kelly Sullivan, along with his four grandsons, Chad, Alex, Regan Ethan; brother to three sisters, Sheila, Susan, Sheryl and brother, Ricky. Donn was born in Washington DC and was raised in Maryland.

He was a graduate of Bladensburg High School where he made the varsity football team as a freshman and was a letterman all four years.  He was also known for his position as pitcher for many baseball leagues including his high school team. He was also a proud member of the Trans Am Club with his 1979 Gold Trans Am.

After moving to Delaware in 1989, Donn went onto working in sales where he ended up at HH Greg in 2009.

He enjoyed spending time in Rehoboth Beach with his family, and loved anything that had to do with sports. His love of sports led him to be one of the first softball coaches for Dover Little League where his daughter played for several years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 4 p.m. and friends and family may call from 3 to 4 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover.

The family requests that in memory of Donn, who was a die-hard Redskins fan,  that attendants wear football jerseys to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to his wife Sharron Spittle to put into a fund for Donn’s grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Silver Lake Center for their compassionate care of Donn during his final days. We will hold you in our hearts FOREVER AND ALWAYS!
