The Delaware State Police are investigating a single car crash on Route 1, just north of the Puncheon Connector, in which a Milford man was slightly injured this afternoon in Dover.

The crash happened at approximately 2:35 p.m. as Wayne Wolfe, 62, was traveling northbound on Route 1 just south of the Dover Toll Plaza. Police said Wolfe’s vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, left the northbound lanes, crossed the grass median, and entered into the southbound lanes of Route 1, still traveling in a northbound direction. His vehicle then traveled off of the west edge of the southbound lanes where it struck several small trees before coming to rest in a small wooded area, police reported.

Wolfe was trapped in his vehicle for a period of time until he could be freed by responding emergency workers, police said. He was then transported by EMS to the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Route 1 southbound was partially closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Police report the crash remains under investigation.
