We know not everyone’s a fan of Halloween. We, however, all have a soft spot for different aspects of the holiday, from horror films to hoarding candy. Here’s why we love Halloween, including our favorite tradition, scary movie and, of course, candy. Bring on the sugar rush!

Tradition: ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween. While meant for children, I love all the movies ABC Family plays at this time of year including “Hocus Pocus,” “The Goonies,” and “Practical Magic.”
Scary movie: With my love of horror flicks, one of the scariest movies I’ve seen is the Australian movie “Wolf Creek,” which even at 22-years-old scared the crap out of me.
Candy: A tie between Starburst and Milk Duds.

Jayne Gest, designer
Tradition: It’s a tie between acting like an idiot and dressing like one.
Scary movie: “Silence of the Lambs.” I was unable to make it through the whole movie until I was in college. Yes, I am that much of a scaredy cat.
Candy: Snickers, an American classic.

Jen Hayes, enterprise reporter
Tradition: Carving Pumpkins. Although my pumpkins always turn our horribly, I have so much fun trying to create a masterpiece, while my husband is always quite happy with his triangle jack-o-lantern.
Scary movie: “Poltergeist II.” Go back and watch this movie, but this time look for the creepy Preacher Kane, who eerily proclaims the family’s “all going to die in there.” It gives me chills. Ick.
Candy: Kit Kats. One word — delicious.

Sarika Jagtiani, arts and culture writer
Tradition: Costumes. I’ve dressed up as everyone from R2D2 to a cheerleader to Ugly Betty. I don’t intend to ever stop wearing a costume, even if it’s just to hand out candy.
Scary movie: “Carrie.” They’re all going to laugh at you! Eek. I was always more scared of Mrs. White (and those hideous gym shorts) than Carrie.
Candy: Kit Kats. If you come to my home, you will definitely not get raisins.
