A Smyrna High School student is doing okay after he was hit by a vehicle at 7:26 this morning at the high school.

Smyrna Police Lt. Norman Wood said the student was struck while crossing Duck Creek Parkway to get to school.

The student was dropped off on the north side of Duck Creek Parkway next to the Little League baseball fields. Witnesses told police the student ran across the road and in front of a car that was driving eastbound, Lt. Wood said.

"As of right now, it's just a broken nose but he's been taken in for observations," Lt. Wood said. "They are doing x-rays."

District Superintendent Debbie Wicks confirmed the victim is a student and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The school nurse informed Wicks that the student's mother is with the student. The status of the student's health is unknown at this time.
