Carlo  C. “Cag”  Delle Donne, 84, formerly of Wilmington and Millsboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of October 15, 2011, at his residence in the Delaware  Veterans Home in Milford.

Carlo was born in Wilmington on August 21, 1927, to the late Gabriel and Rosa (Dounarumma) Delle Donne.

Carlo spent his childhood and teenage years in his beloved Little Italy neighborhood. He was especially proud of his service in WWII, having served in the US Army in Germany.

He worked many years at J.E. Rhoads and Sons and then for HAVEC Industries before retiring from the Hercules Research Center.  His favorite activities were spending time with family and friends, playing golf at the old Hercules Country Club, and dancing the night away at the Elks Club, Moose Lodge or American Legion, depending upon where the big band sound music was being played.  After retirement he and Isabel moved to Orchard Manor in Oak Orchard near Millsboro. They visited Wilmington frequently, especially for St. Anthony’s Italian Festival, played golf at Sussex Pines Country Club, continued dancing, and golfed during the winter in Myrtle Beach.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Isabel (Ginsberg Hall) Delle Donne; brothers Ralph, Joseph, Lewis, and Malio Delle Donne, and by a dearly-loved nephew, Gabriel (Gabe) Delle Donne.

He is survived by his daughters and sons- in- law  Rebecca (Hall) & William S. Scarborough, of Frederica, DE., Patricia (Hall) & Barry Brinkley of Seminole, FL, his grandsons Mark S. Scarborough (Michelle) & Stephen E. Scarborough (Lindy) of  Middletown and Seaford respectively, his great grandchildren, Hannah and Isaac Scarborough, also of Middletown, his sister Connie Allen of Wilmington,  a  special friend, Silvana  Lenici of Rehoboth Beach, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
