DelDOT announces that Reedy Point Bridge at Route 9, the St. Georges Bridge, the William Roth Memorial Bridge on Route 1 and the Summit Bridge that crosses the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal are closed to all but emergency vehicles. The Indian River Inlet Bridge has also been closed.

Motorists are reminded that Level 2 driving restrictions have been announced by Gov. Jack Markell and non-emergency travel is restricted during the period to all motorists across the state.

The St. Georges Bridge would probably be open to general motorists once the Level 2 restriction is lifted, said Jim Grant, director of communications for New Castle County. However, the Reedy Point Bridge will likely remain closed to non-emergency vehicles once the restriction is lifted, since there is major flooding on Route 9, said David Carpenter, coordinator of emergency management for New Castle County.

The Indian River Inlet Bridge will reopen after an inspection can be completed on the pilings, DelDOT said. Officials remind motorists that it could take a few days to complete those inspections.
