Ethel Mae (Southwick) Anderson, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully August 5, 2011 at Capitol Healthcare Facility on Walker Road in Dover, Delaware.


Ethel Mae (Southwick) Anderson, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully August 5, 2011 at Capitol Healthcare Facility on Walker Road in Dover, Delaware. Born January 19,1919, to Allen and Hazel (Weller) Southwick, she was raised and educated in Rochester, New York where she graduated from East High School in 1936. Later she attended Brockport Normal School where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Carl Nathaniel Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson was a veteran teacher of the Rochester Public School System. Her thirty-two years of service was primarily at No. 33 School in Rochester. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a kind and loyal friend, a gracious lady with a sparkling smile.
Ethel is survived by her three daughters and their families: Karen Anderson DeOrdio and her husband Joseph of North Adams, Massachusetts; Gail Anderson Parsons and her husband Charles of Marydel, Maryland; and Nanci Anderson Rydstrom and her husband Lorin of Hollis, New Hampshire. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A celebration of life is planned for October 15, 2011,10:30 a.m. at White Haven Memorial Garden in Pittsford, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of MA/NH; 5 Bedford Farms, Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110. Donations should be designated to the memory of Ethel S. Anderson.
