The new school year got underway Tuesday at Dover’s two Catholic schools – St. Thomas More Preparatory School and Holy Cross School. At St. Thomas More, students began their day with an address from Father James Lentini, the new principal.


The new school year got underway Tuesday at Dover’s two Catholic schools – St. Thomas More Preparatory School and Holy Cross School. At St. Thomas More, students began their day with an address from Father James Lentini, the new principal.

Schools in the Caesar Rodney and Capital, as well as Polytech and Campus Community schools, opened later in the week, with Lake Forest opening next week.

On Wednesday, students at W.B. Simpson Elementary in Caesar Rodney School District got a first look at the newly renovated school.

Students at Campus Community Elementary also returned Wednesday. While elementary students met their teachers and got settled, new students at Campus Community High School got acquainted during orientation.

Capital School District students in kindergarten through ninth grade headed to school Thursday, and older Senators will return to Dover High Friday.

Polytech freshmen got a head start with a half day Thursday, with all students returning Friday for their first full day.

Lake Forest School District is the last local district to return. Friday is orientation for fourth, sixth, and ninth graders, with all schools open for a full day Monday, Aug. 29.
