    EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
    1 Something old...
Ballet Theatre of Dover’s latest venture includes two main components: “Le Corsaire” and “Broadway Bound.” The ballet is full of colorful characters and settings, from slave girls in a noisy bazaar to the pirates who want to capture them. Ballet Theatre of Dover will perform the version choreographed by Marius Petipa for the Mariinsky Ballet (formerly the Kirov Ballet) in 1868.
    2 Something new(er)...
At the opposite end of the dance spectrum from “La Corsaire” will be contemporary offerings in “Broadway Bound.” The segment includes numbers from “A Chorus Line” and other Broadway favorites.
    3 Something borrowed
Fun fact: The classical ballet “La Corsaire” is loosely based on a poem by Lord Byron.
    WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
Don’t be blue — you still have a chance to see professional dancer and Dover High alum Brett Emmons before he retires. After attending the School of American Ballet and performing in “Casablanca,” “Movin’ Out” and “West Side Story,” he’s taking a step back and going to college. Emmons heads to Bates College in the fall.
