Mrs. Blackshear, age 90 of Wilmington and Dover Delaware transitioned home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Mrs. Blackshear was born in Daytona, Florida, the third child of Therodrick and Mozella Smiley.

Mrs. Blackshear was a loving homemaker and a child care provider at St. Michaels Day Nursery where she helped shape and nurture many successful adults of today. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Temple COGIC and later attended Bibleway Temple Institutional COGIC where her late husband, Bishop L.T. Blackshear was the pastor. Most times when you saw Mrs. Blackshear she would be wearing a beautiful designer hat. Mrs. Blackshear enjoyed traveling and attending church conventions. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends.
Mrs. Blackshear is survived by 5 children, Elder Charles (Vivian), Esther, Ruth Lewis (Joseph), L.T. Jr., and Sylvia Vanessa Holsey (Bishop T.L.Holsey). 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1great-great grandchild, a special niece, Julia Rogers(Andrew), special companion, Maryann Burris, 4 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bishop L.T. Blackshear, a daughter and 3 brothers.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Blackshear will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Bibleway Temple Institutional Church, Dover, Delaware at 11 a.m. with a viewing 9 – 11 a.m. only and a viewing Friday May 27th, 4 –7 p.m. At Bennie Smith Funeral Home 717 W. Division St. Dover, De. Interment at Sharon Hill Memorial Park.
We would like to thank the staff at Foulk Manor North who took care of our mother and a special thank you to Vitas Hospice staff Sara, Marg, Tasha, Corrine, Gail and especially Moses who made her transition so peaceful.
