Dover police arrested a Magnolia man May 22 for several recent car burglaries after officers spotted him allegedly attempting to break into a car near the corner of West Loockerman Street and Governors Avenue.


Dover police arrested a Magnolia man May 22 for several recent car burglaries after officers spotted him allegedly attempting to break into a car near the corner of West Loockerman Street and Governors Avenue.

The incident took place at approximately 10:40 p.m. When approached by officers, Jeffrey W. Thomas, 46, of Magnolia, fled on a bicycle but was apprehended by a Dover Police K9, according to police.

At the time of his arrest, Thomas allegedly was in possession of a hammer and gloves, police said.

Thomas was charged with 10 counts of theft, nine counts of criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools and resisting arrest.

After being treated for dog bite wounds and released from BayHealth Kent General Hospital, he was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in default of $8,754 secured bond.
