Reba Mae Clifton, 85, of Dover, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011.
Friends may call on the family of Reba Mae Clifton, 85, of Dover, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where funeral services will be held at noon. Interment will be in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Mrs. Clifton died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Born Feb. 24, 1926, in Brazil, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Otto Sawyer and Ocie Thomas Sawyer, and the youngest of eight children.
Mrs. Clifton worked as a crossing guard for Dover schools, the in Jello production at General Foods in Dover for 26 years. She was active in Lifestyles Fitness for more than 20 years, and a member of the People’s Church of Dover.
She was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband of 59 years, the late Herbert Clifton, and especially loved their trips to Hawaii. She cherished family, was proud of her children, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Mrs. Clifton also made time to stay connected with her extended family in Indiana and around the country. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Clifton is survived by two sons, Laurence Clifton of Courtland, Va., and Kenneth Clifton and his wife Janice of Wilmington; two daughters, Shirley Bellois and her husband Philip, and Nancy Van Sant and her husband Levin, all of Felton; four grandchildren, Michelle and Brian Bellois, and Kimber and Michael Van Sant; one great-grandson, Zachary Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews in Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
