Daphne Rachel Kelleher, 14, of Dover, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.


Friends may call on the family of Daphne Rachel Kelleher, 14, of Dover, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Daphne died suddenly Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at home.

Born June 13, 1996 in Dover, she was the daughter of Don Kelleher and Judy Kelleher.

Daphne was a very loving girl and close to her family. She was a student at St. Benedictine School in Ridley, Md. Prior to that, she attended Central Middle School. She participated in the Special Olympics and won several medals. She loved drawing, swimming, amusement rides and spending time with her family. She was very creative and imaginative.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

In addition to her parents, Daphne is survived by her maternal grandmother, Ellen Urie of Dover; a brother, Michael P. Kelleher, 11; a sister, Amanda Ventura and her husband Aniceto “Tavo” Ventura of Seattle, Wash.; two aunts, Mary DeCarpentry of O’Fallon, Ill., and Michele Kelleher of Bayonne, N.J.; two cousins, Michael DeCarpentry and Jennifer Bielauskaus; a nice, Sabre Ventura; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
