With the help of an outside consultant, the Downtown Dover Partnership will conduct a marketing a branding exercise next week to develop new plans for promoting tourism and economic development in the area.

The public is invited to participate in the discussion to identify and solidify the qualities and characteristics of Dover that people care about most. Those qualities will be used to develop a marketing plan for Dover that promotes an overall understanding of the city as both a destination and a hometown.

A Public Input Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in City Council Chambers.

The study has been commissioned by the Downtown Dover Partnership and funded through a partial grant from Downtown Delaware. The study is being conducted by Arnett Muldrow & Associates, a town-planning firm based in Greenville, S.C., that specializes in economic development and community branding. They have completed studies in over 200 communities in 22 states, including several branding projects in Delaware including Milford, Milton, Middletown, Newark and Sussex County.
