Edward A. “Reds” Garrett Jr., 83, of Dover, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Capitol Nursing Home Dover in the Scott Wing where he received care for more than two years.
Born April 27, 1927, in Dover, Mr. Garrett was the son of the late Edward Garrett Sr. and Reba Sapp Garrett.
He was employed at General Motors in Newport for more than 30 years, and after retirement served homebound meals for the Modern Maturity Center for eight years. He loved to garden, especially growing strawberries and turnips, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Mr. Garrett was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Dover for 37 years, and spent many of his retirement winters in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Johnson; and two sisters, Effie Carlisle and Reba Hardin.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dorothy Moore Garrett; five nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
