Deborah L. Heintz, 55, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010.
Deborah L. Heintz, 55, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Bayhealth Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
Born May 9, 1955, Mrs. Heintz was the daughter of Clarence “Buddy” Powell and Dorothy “Dotty” Powell.
She graduated with honors from Dover High School in 1973. She then went on to pursue a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Delaware, and had a rewarding career as a registered nurse for 15 years at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover.
Mrs. Heintz furthered her education by obtaining a master’s in nursing and then worked part-time teaching nursing students in Delaware. During her career, she touched the lives of many people, always providing her patients with exceptional medical care and the courage to overcome illness. Her passion and drive for nursing inspired others to strive for the same high standards of care in their own careers as medical professionals.
When taking a break from her busy life as a mother of two and nursing, she enjoyed spending time with her family, art, the beach, traveling, skiing and discussing religion. God, family and caring for others were her priorities. She was a very outgoing and special person, and her friends and family will miss her greatly and will keep many fond memories of her in their hearts.
Mrs. Heintz was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel and Lewis Holzer, and Clarence and Myrtle Powell; and two aunts, Charlotte Clendaniel and Elsie Walls.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Amber Hall and her husband Christopher; a son, Corey Heintz; two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Hall; three aunts, Betty Ann Ervin, Emilie Olechny and Nelen Dagg; and an uncle, Sammie Powell Jr.
Flowers are always appreciated as Mrs. Heintz loved them, but donations in her memory also may be made to the Pregnancy Help Center of Kent County, 1991 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
