A 71-year-old Dover man was arrested Dec. 3 at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Dover after allegedly verbally abusing employees and attempting to punch and kick at police officers.

Robert E. Selheimer was approached by a Capitol Police officer after he created a disturbance by being verbally abusive toward DMV employees and alarming other customers, said Kimberly H. Chandler of the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

Selheimer then resisted arrest by allegedly attempting to punch and kick at several officers. One officer suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment, police reported.

Selheimer was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and offensive touching of a law enforcement officer. He was released on an unsecured bond.
