Elsa Brownson Koons, 94, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010.

A memorial service will be held for Elsa Brownson Koons at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 425 N. DuPont Highway, Dover.

Mrs. Brownson Koons died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Jacksonville, Fla., after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1916, in Chandler, Okla., she was the fifth of eight children of the late Joseph William Macy and Pearl McKnight Macy.

Mrs. Brownson Koons attended Oklahoma A&M College and was married to Eldridge B. Brownson in Chevy Chase, Md., on June 18, 1939. She served the American Red Cross during World War II. During her marriage to Mr. Brownson, they lived in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Ohio and Delaware. Mr. Brownson died on March 26, 1993.

After moving to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1995, Mrs. Brownson Koons was married to James Evan Koons in July 2000. Mr. Koons died in August 2005.

She is survived by a son, Mark Brownson and his wife Emily of Dover; a daughter, Camilla Kenny and her husband Peter of Jacksonville; and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She also is survived by a sister, Mary Jo Frandsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
