Lorene Scarborough, 90, of Dover, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

Born June 29, 1920, in Skelton, W.Va., Mrs. Scarborough was the daughter of the late James William Smith and Lillie Maud Foley Smith.

During World War II she worked at the Triumph Explosive Company in Elkton, Md. She worked as the manager for S&H Green Stamp store until it closed. She also worked at Sears in downtown Dover and Scarborough Hatchery in Milford.

Mrs. Scarborough was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed craft projects as a member of the Senior Center in Harrington. She also was an active volunteer at the Same Day Surgery Unit at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital until her death.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl R. Scarborough in 1994; and 11 siblings.

Mrs. Scarborough is survived by a son, Duane Scarborough and his wife Sue of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and a grandchild, Kris Scarborough.
