The Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club is offering scholarships to Dover Air Force Base families with high school seniors and other family members pursuing higher education. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,000 to total $12,000.
Applicants must be dependents of active duty, reserve, or retired military members or U.S. government employees assigned to Dover AFB, or dependents of deceased military members residing in the area served by Dover AFB. Graduating seniors must be current high school seniors in the Dover AFB area and must have applied to an accredited college/university for the fall 2011 academic year. If the active duty parent of an applicant is transferred after the beginning of the applicant’s senior year, the student must remain in and graduate from a school in the Dover area to be eligible for this scholarship. Dependents who live and/or attend a local high school as a result of their sponsor completing a remote tour overseas or temporarily staying as the result of a PCS may also apply. Continuing education applicants must be either children/stepchildren (younger than 23) or spouses. They must also be currently enrolled (spring 2011) as part-time or full-time students in post-high school educational programs.
Scholarships are not given two consecutive years in a row.
