New class combines cardio and abdominal workout
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering Cardiobox Plus Abs from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 29, to Jan. 3, at the Dover Park Recreation Center.
Participants will learn the basics of jab, cross and hook punches, and front, back and side kicks. As the class progresses the moves will be put into combinations.
The activity fee is $30 and Pamela Chomyn is the instructor.

Turkey Trot 5K set for Thanksgiving Day
The Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk will begin with registration at 8 a.m., Young Gobbler’s Race at 9 a.m., and Turkey Trot at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
The cost is $25 per participant. Payment is due the day of the race. All proceeds go to the CDSA Shockwave U10 boys travel soccer club.

Free workouts being offered Nov. 25 to 27
Punch Kettlebell Gym is offering free Turkey-Busting Boot Camp Workouts Thursday, Nov. 25, to Saturday, Nov. 27, at 1058 S. Governors Ave., Suite 101, Dover.
The only cost to attend is one can of vegetables, which will be donated to local food banks and homeless shelters.

Youth floor hockey league begins Nov. 29
The city of Dover Parks and Recreation Department is offering a youth floor hockey league for boys and girls ages 10 to 12 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 29, to Dec. 20, at the Pitts Center, Dover.
The activity fee is $20 and there is a maximum of 16 participants.

Bowden, Lanovara named Wild Quail players of the year
The John Kitchen Memorial Turkey Shoot was held Nov. 13 at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, Wyoming.
The 2010 players of the year were Bill Bowden, men, and Anne Lanovara, women.
The gross winners were: Brian Goff, Ian Sydell, Hal Blades and Linda Malloy, first; and Ricky McCall, Russ Larson, Chaz Wise and Jane Heinig, second.
The net winners were: Kevin Sartell, Chris Giles, George Sweeney and Ted Zak, first; Jeff Owsick, Tom Robbins, Wayne Walls and Loretta Grimes, second; Brian Shuba, Bill Hutchinson, Uday Nadkarny and Nancy Woodward, third; Kevin Donnelly, Frances Mangubat, Brian Troutman and Marion Hitch, fourth; Rick Kent, Earl Schandelmeir, Kevin Malloy and Pat Sweeney, fifth; Chris Blades, Rick McCall Sr., John Giangrant and Carolyn Price, sixth; Duane Shuba, Charlie Grimes, John Andrade and Jan Zak, seventh; and Dave Cox, Jack Eanes, Bob Larrimore and Colleen Stone, eighth.
The last place prize went to the team of Nino Rosal, Mike Nyhus, Paul McCommons and Kathy Mercer.
Other winners were: Ricky McCall Jr., men’s longest drive, hole No. 2; Loretta Grimes, women’s longest drive, hole No. 2; and John Giangrant, closest to the line, hole No. 1.
The closest-to-the-pin winners on par threes were: Dave Woodward, 13 feet 10 inches, hole No. 4; Marion Hitch, 19 feet 5 inches, hole No. 8; Jane Heinig, 7 feet, hole No. 13; and Steve Hanson, 12 feet 7 inches, hole No. 17.
