Thomas E. Zebley, 88, of Dover, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in Pinnacle Nursing and Rehab, Smyrna.

Born March 13, 1922, in Wilmington, Mr. Zebley was the son of the late James Zebley and Jessica Cardenti Zebley.

He was in the Coast Guard during World War II and was the president of E.F. Higgins Electrical Contracting in Middletown.

Mr. Zebley was cofounder of I.B.E.W. Local 313 in New Castle. He was a star football player for Conrad High School during the 1930s, where he played both offense and defense. He also loved animals, especially riding horses, and enjoyed sailing and reading.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Zebley; and a sister, Alice Handfield.

Mr. Zebley is survived by his wife of 36 years, June Sullivan Zeble; six children, Fil Lewis, Bonnie Lewis, David Lewis, Beau Zebley, Kenny Zebley and Zack Zebley; and nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services were private.
