After storming back in the first round of the Division II playoffs to nearly tie its game, the No. 3 Lake Forest High School football team fell short on a missed extra point to lose to No. 6 Archmere Academy, 21-20, Nov. 19.
No team ever wants to lose in the playoffs and see its season come to an end, but the No. 3 Lake Forest High School football team found out in the first round of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Division II Tournament that some ways to lose are tougher than others.
After coming back from two touchdowns back in the fourth quarter against No. 6 Archmere Academy, the No. 3 Spartans scored late to bring the score to 21-20 and with an extra point could have forced overtime.
The kick, however, went wide and the Auks moved on to the semifinals while Lake was sent packing for the season.
Quadir Bryant, Josh Webb and Shymer Hanzer scored the three Spartan touchdowns in the loss.
