Delaware Department of Finance Secretary Tom Cook announced Oct. 29 that Delaware has published the names of over 120,000 owners of unclaimed property on the Finance website at www.finance.delaware.gov.

This list contains names and addresses of persons appearing to be the owners of unclaimed funds that have been abandoned and delivered to the Delaware State Escheator, pursuant to Section 1143, Chapter 11, Title 12 of the Delaware Code. The property listed is not real estate. Instead, it is property reported to the Delaware State Escheator by corporations and other entities. This property may include: uncashed/undelivered/unclaimed dividends, wages, refunds, deposits, interests, payments for goods and services, stock, debentures, bonds, etc.

Those whose names are listed, are an executor of an estate, or an heir, and believe they have reason to file a claim, should submit a written inquiry to the Delaware Department of Finance claims processing unit at the following address:

Delaware Division of Revenue
Bureau of Unclaimed Property
P.O. Box 8931
Wilmington, DE 19899

All inquiries should include a photocopy of the applicant’s drivers license or other applicable identification, as well as proof of address as it appears in the publication. Due to the size of this publication and the expected response, inquiries will receive a response within approximately twelve weeks of receipt of an inquiry. A claim form and instructions will be mailed to applicants.
