A Hartly woman has been killed in a single-car crash that occurred near the western Kent County town.


A Hartly woman was killed in a single-car crash that occurred near the western Kent County town.

The accident occurred at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, on Hartly Road, east of Judith Road, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Bruce W. Harris.

The victim, identified as Kimberly A. Hutchinson, 44, was driving a 1999 Dodge Stratus westbound on Hartly Road when the vehicle traveled off the north edge of the roadway and hit a ditch. Hutchinson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car, Harris said.

Hutchinson was taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A dog in the car was treated by the Kent County SPCA for a broken leg.

Both lanes of the roadway were closed until approximately 9:30 p.m.
