William Irvin Daniels, 71, of Dover, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010.
Friends of the late William Irvin “Bill,” “Irv” Daniels, 71, of Dover, may call on the family beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Dunkirk Baptist Church, 11275 Southern Maryland Blvd., Dunkirk, Md., where funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Rick Hancock, will begin at noon.
Mr. Daniels died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital following a yearlong battle with interstitial lung disease.
Born Oct. 12, 1938, in Berwyn, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Frederick Daniels Sr. and Leona Seaton Daniels.
Mr. Daniels was a 1956 graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, Md. He worked for Safeway Stores Inc. and then for the Bolling Air Force Base commissary as a meat cutter.
He retired from the government in 1994.
He loved to hunt rabbits with his beloved beagles. He was an avid gardener and was always doing things for his family, who he loved very much.
Mr. Daniels had lived in Dover for the past 5 years and was a former resident of Huntingtown, Md., and before that, Upper Marlboro, Md.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. Before moving to Delaware in 2005, he was a deacon and member of Dunkirk Baptist Church in Dunkirk and of First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Utterback; and his infant daughter, Debra Jane Daniels.
Mr. Daniels is survived by Sandra Taylor Daniels, his loving wife of more than 49 years; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Kay and Terry Palmer and Cynthia Lynn Daniels, all of Odenton, Md.
He also is survived by his brothers, Charles F. Daniels Jr. of College Park, Md., the Rev. George and Liz Daniels of Oro Valley, Ariz.; and Thomas and Mickey Daniels of Monroe, Iowa; his sisters, Patricia and Dick Goddard of College Park, Jane and Jim Hahn of Fayetteville, Pa., Doreen and Jay Good of Madison, Va., Joyce Rosewag of Owings Mills, and Donna and Mike Sinsel of Bracey, Va.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Southern Memorial Gardens, Dunkirk, Md. Pallbearers will be Fred and Andy Rosewag, Kevin and Scott Sinsel, Darren Good and Chris Daniels.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at First Southern Baptist Church, 761 S. Little Creek Road, Dover.
