Joan Arthur Parker Brown, 69, of Harrington, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Born March 13, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the daughter of the late Col. John Parker and Barbara Parker.
Mrs. Brown graduated from Caesar Rodney High School with the Class of 1959. She retired from Kent General Hospital Home Health Care, and afterward continued caring for the elderly.
She enjoyed spending time gardening and loved collecting antiques. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her dogs Killer, Prissy and Ginger.
Mrs. Brown is survived by Harry Brown, her husband of 22 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Michael Roberts of Magnolia; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Julie Powell; four granddaughters, Jennifer Mumford of Dover, Bobbie Stackeni of West Chester, Pa., Nicole Merillo of Harrisburg, Pa., and Olivia Powell of Camden; and a grandson, Brandon Powell of Camden.
She also is survived by three great-grandchildren, Hailey Mumford, Ava Stackeni and Nathan Merillo; her brother, Jack Parker of Las Vegas, Nev.; her best friend of 51 years, Joy Harrington; and three stepdaughters, Sally Carnright, Kim Robbins and Sue Smith of Frederica.
In accordance with Mrs. Brown’s wishes, there will be no services.
