Delaware State Police detectives have arrested two men in connection with a Sept. 2 robbery and assault in Magnolia.

Walter A. Bunting Jr., 29, of Kesselring Drive, was taken into custody Sept. 27, said police spokesman Master Cpl. Bruce W. Harris.

Bunting’s alleged accomplice, Andre W. Woods, 28, whose home was listed as in Westville, N.J., was arrested Sept. 28 by Maryland State Police, Harris said.

The crime occurred on Bay Hill Lane when two men were assaulted and robbed, Harris said. The robbers tried but failed to take a purse from a woman who was waiting in a car for the victims, Harris said.

Bunting and Woods were charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree attempted robbery, second-degree conspiracy and offensive touching.

He was jailed at the Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in default of a $13,500 secured bond.

Woods was apprehended by Maryland officers following a traffic stop and held due to the pending charges in Delaware. He was returned to Kent County Sept. 28 held on the same criminal charges as Bunting.

Woods also was jailed at VCC in default of $34,500 cash bail.

Harris said State Police have reason to believe Woods may have been involved in similar crimes and is asking any persons who may have been victimized by Woods to contact Troop 3 at 697-2104, ext. 309.
