Scary events start nearly a month in advance of Halloween with two haunted woods opening this weekend. For scaredy cats, there's an antique and collectible show set for Sunday at Spence's Bazaar.


Get ghoulish long before Halloween
Those who wander into the woods this weekend are going to get a shock. Both the Wicked Woods in Wyoming and Haunted Forest in Harrington are opening to frighten visitors now through Halloween.
Wicked Woods is open from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; and Saturdays, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at Wicked R Western Productions, 2621 Sandy Bend Road, Wyoming. Admission is $15.

The Harrington Fire Company’s Haunted Forest, the “CarnEvil of Horrors,” opens from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, and runs Fridays, Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29; and Saturday, Oct. 9, 17, 23 and 30, at Lister Acres, Harrington.
Admission is $10, $8 children 8 to 12; not recommended for young children.

Shop for hard-to-find pieces
A free, outdoor, antique and collectibles show will take over Spence’s Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3. Antique and collectible dealers from up and down the East Coast will offer a variety of merchandise, including vintage furnishings, jewelry, porcelain, glassware, advertising, trains, music, toys and more.
Admission is free, as is parking.
