Dover High School
Football
Record: 2-0, 0-0
The Dover High football team improved its record last week with its second win after beating Glasgow, 41-6, Sept. 17. Running back Pierre Foreman rushed for three touchdowns, while quarterback Kamal Abrams threw for two scores to receivers Matt Payne and Matt Watson. Donovan Cain, running back, picked up the other Dover score. The Senators go on the road for their next game when they visit Indian River High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

Field Hockey
Record: 0-3-1, 0-3-0
The Dover High field hockey team failed to secure its first win of the season last week, losing games to Caesar Rodney, 1-0, Sept. 13, Seaford, 1-0, Sept. 14 and Cape Henlopen, 9-0, Sept. 16. The Senators return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, vs. Smyrna High School.

Boys Soccer
Record: 1-1, 1-1
The Dover High boys soccer team opened its season last week with a loss to Indian River, 2-0, Sept. 14, but rebounded in the next game to beat Delmar, 5-2, Sept. 16. Matt Hogsten scored four goals in the win for the Senators, with teammate Alex Kimbro chipping in the final tally. Dover will visit Seaford High School for its next game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.

Girls Volleyball
Record: 0-3, 0-2
The Dover High girls volleyball team played three matches in the first week of their season, losing all three to Polytech, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-14), Sept. 14, Sussex Tech, 3-1 (25-13, 25-18, 14-25, 25-11), Sept. 16 and Saint Thomas More, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-21), Sept. 18. The Senators will play at rival Caesar Rodney High School in their next match at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.

Boys Cross Country
Record: 1-0, 1-0
The Dover High boys cross country team won its first dual meet of the season last week, defeating Woodbridge, 15-46, Sept. 15. Brandon Barnes, 18:00.8, was the top performer in the race for the Senators, who next compete at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, vs. Indian River High School.

Polytech High School
Football
Record: 2-0, 1-0
The Polytech High football team improved to 2-0 last week by beating Delcastle, 32-28, Sept. 17. Artis Thorne had touchdown runs of 10, 64 and five yards for the Panthers, while teammate David Okeke broke free for a 71-yard rushing score in the win. Polytech looks to stay undefeated when it visits Cape Henlopen High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

Field Hockey
Record: 1-0-1, 1-0-1
The Polytech High field hockey team started its season last week without recording a loss, first Laurel, 4-0, Sept. 14, then tying Milford, 1-1, Sept. 16. Scoring twice in the win for the Panthers was Chelsie Nelson, whose team takes the field again at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, vs. Lake Forest High School.

Boys Soccer
Record: 0-2, 0-2
The Polytech High boys soccer team lost both its games to open the season last week, first to Sussex Central, 3-1, Sept. 14, then to Sussex Tech, 4-1, Sept. 16. The Panthers will host Cape Henlopen High School in their next game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.

Girls Volleyball
Record: 3-0, 2-0
The Polytech High girls volleyball team went undefeated in last week’s action, picking up wins over Dover, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-14), Sept. 14, and Lake Forest, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9), Sept. 16. Against Lake, Jaynie Deputy had two kills, three aces, one dig and 18 assists to lead the Panthers to a win. Polytech next plays at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Woodbridge High School.

Lake Forest High School
Football
Record: 1-1, 0-1
The Lake Forest High football team won its first game of the season last week, beating Archmere, 33-24, Sept. 18. Quadir Bryant rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans, who will host Mount Pleasant High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

Field Hockey
Record: 1-1, 1-1
The Lake Forest High field hockey team opened its season last week with a loss to Cape Henlopen, 8-2, Sept. 14, but came back in the next game to beat Laurel, 3-0, Sept. 16. The Spartans next play at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, vs. Woodbridge High School.

Boys Soccer
Record: 1-2, 0-2
The Lake Forest High boys soccer team won its first game of the season last week against Campus Community, 6-4, Sept. 15. That win, however, was sandwiched between losses to Milford, 2-1, Sept. 14, and Smyrna, 3-2, Sept. 16. Tolga Yilmaz and Logan King each scored three goals in the win for the Spartans, who take the field again at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, vs. Sussex Tech High School.

The Lake Forest High girls volleyball team opened its season last week with a win over Campus Community, 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-8), Sept. 15, but lost its next match to Polytech, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9), Sept. 16. Kristol Sampson had 11 aces in the win for the Spartans, whose next match comes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, vs. Sussex Tech High School.

Caesar Rodney High School
Football
Record: 2-0, 0-0
The Caesar Rodney High football team won in impressive fashion in its second game of the season last week, taking down Concord, 46-29, Sept. 17. Senior wide receiver/defensive back Dante Shells led the Riders, catching four touchdown passes from quarterback Seth McFall, intercepting two passes and blocking a punt. Michael Skodzinski and Allannio Monsanto also scored touchdowns for CR. The Riders will host Salesianum School for their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

Field Hockey
Record: 3-1, 2-0
The Caesar Rodney High field hockey team swept its games last week, defeating Dover, 1-0, Sept. 13, Indian River, 1-0, Sept. 15 and Caravel, 2-0, Sept. 17. Sophomore Taylor Prillaman scored the game-winning goals in both the Dover and Caravel games for the Riders, who next play at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, vs. Laurel High School.

The Caesar Rodney High boys soccer team opened its season last week with wins over Woodbridge, 6-0, Sept. 14, and Seaford, 3-1, Sept. 16. Picking up a goal and an assist in the Seaford win for the Riders was Chimaobi Ikwuagwu. CR will visit Laurel High School for its next game at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23.

Girls Volleyball

The Caesar Rodney High girls volleyball team started last week with a loss to Concord, 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 26-24), Sept. 13, but bounced back win two straight against Sussex Tech, 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-10), Sept. 14, and Indian River, 3-2 (24-26, 19-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-5), Sept. 16. The Riders return to action at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, vs. Dover High School.

Boys Cross Country
Record: 1-0, 1-0
The Caesar Rodney High boys cross country team opened its dual season with a conference win against Polytech, 21-38, Sept. 15. The Riders’ next meet is at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Sussex Central High School.

Girls Cross Country
Record: 1-0, 1-0
The Caesar Rodney High girls cross country team defeated Polytech, 20-38, Sept. 15, for its first win of the season. The Riders will visit Sussex Central High School for their next meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22.
