Delaware State Police are investigating a July 28 robbery that occurred at approximately 12:53 a.m. at the Shore Stop on Main Street in Cheswold.


Delaware State Police are investigating a July 28 robbery that occurred at approximately 12:53 a.m. at the Shore Stop on Main Street in Cheswold.

The 21-year-old male victim was working nightshift when two suspects entered the Shore Stop wearing mask, said police spokesman Cpl. Bruce Harris. One of the suspects allegedly displayed a handgun and pointed it at the clerk. The masked men did not speak only motioned to what they wanted. The suspects were given an undisclosed amount of money and three cartons of Newport cigarettes, and fled the store.

Dover Police assisted with a canine search which led officers to Blanton Mobile Home Park approximately a half mile west of the robbery scene, Harris said. Three subjects were detained briefly and one was wanted for an active capias, taken to Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released.

The suspects are described as two black males, both in their late teens or early 20s. One suspect is of very thin build, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, orange gloves and carrying a handgun. The other suspect is of thin build, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are continuing their investigation and is seeking the public’s help with obtaining information into the early morning robbery.
