George Sanford Clendaniel Jr. died Wednesday, July 21, 2010.


Friends of the late George Sanford Clendaniel Jr., 96, of Marydel, may call on the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, 12 Lotus St., Dover. Remembrance services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 S. State St., Dover.

Burial will be at the Barratts Chapel Cemetery Frederica

Mr. Clendaniel died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Pinnacale Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center Smyrna.

He was born on June 15, 1914, in Hartly.

Mr. Clendaniel was a farmer all his life in Marydel, and was a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau. He also owned and operated Clendaniel Trucking Co. He enjoyed gardening, reading his Bible, attending services at Wesleyan Camp in Denton and going to the Delaware State Fair. He is preceded in death by his Wife Emma Grace Clendaniel in 2004 after 68 years of marriage; and his son Henry J. Clendaniel in 1974.

He is survived by sons Louis Clendaniel of Hartly, Carlton Clendaniel of Baltimore, Md., Fred Clendaniel of Milford, Herb Clendaniel of Milford, and Frank Clendaniel of Milford; daughters Sarah Green of Marydel, Md., and Louise Simmons of Elizabeth City, N.C.; brothers Charles Clendaniel of Maryland, and Harry Clendaniel, Paul Clendaniel of and Herb Clendaniel, all of Delaware; sisters Mary Mitchell of Florida and Sallie Dill of Delaware; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Trinity Wesleyan Church 1564 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
