Harrington Police charged a 29-year-old Harrington man with attempted first-degree murder and other drug-related charges July 17.

According to spokesman Cpl. Adam Gillespie, officers on patrol responded to the unit block of Commerce Street July 16 for a report of a subject who had been assaulted. When officers arrived, the victim was suffering from serious head and facial injuries, Gillespie said.

The victim was transported to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officers obtained a warrant for Jason E. Evans for attempted first-degree murder, began searching for him, but were unable to locate him.

On July 17, officers from the Harrington and Felton Police Departments to the Clarks Corner Apartment Complex and arrested Evans without incident. Evans was transported to the Harrington Police Department.

Evans also had an active warrant on file at the Harrington Police Department for unrelated drug charges, Gillespie said.

In addition to attempted first-degree murder, Evans was charged with maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Evans was transported to Justice of the Peace Court 7 and arraigned. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $50,000 cash bond on the attempted murder charge and $7,500 secured bond on the drug charges.
