A weekend of live music -- and free music, at that -- will give locals a chance to see two distinctly different guitarists. Classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will start off the weekend with a show Friday evening at the Delaware Public Archives, and then Mike Roots, Jonathan Duerr and Sarah Flynn will take to the Green Stinger Saturday night to celebrate the release of Roots' latest CD.

N.Y. classical guitarist stops by for In Harmony series

Last weekend, Peter Fletcher played at Carnegie Hall. At 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, he’ll play a slightly less famous venue when he brings his classical guitar to the Delaware Public Archives as part of the Dover Public Library’s In Harmony series.
Fletcher began studying at age 7 under classical guitar instructor John Sutherland, and made his formal debut at 15. Since then, he’s gone on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, has released multiple CDs and played abroad. His latest project is an all-Grieg album, slated for release this year.
Admission to the concert is free.

Mike Roots CD release party — take two
Local musician Mike Roots had plans for a CD release party in January. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had her own plans and dumped a foot or so of snow on the area the same night as the party, which was cancelled.
The party was rescheduled and will be held at 9 p.m. Friday, April 2, at The Green Stinger, 492 Walnut Shade Road, Woodside.
Roots will be releasing his third CD, “Breaking Away,” as well as performing with Sarah Flynn and Jonathan Duerr. Free giveaways, raffles, and more will be a part of the celebration, too.
