Dover Police have arrested James H. Benson, 40, in connection with an April 2009 rape case.
Dover Police have arrested a homeless man in connection with a rape case that occurred more than 10 months ago.
James H. Benson, 40, was taken into custody Feb. 27 said police spokesman Lt. Tim Stump.
The case began at 1:30 a.m. April 13, 2009, when at least two, and possibly more, persons broke into a home in the 200 block of North State Street. The victim was confronted in her bedroom by one of the suspects, who implied he had a knife. The man raped the woman and then fled with the other suspects. Money and other items were discovered missing during the police investigation.
The police investigation as well as some of the items taken during the break-in led detectives to Benson, Stump said.
Benson was apprehended without incident at Liberty Court, and charged with rape, burglary and theft. He was jailed at the Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $61,000 cash bond.
