Theresa Sturnialo, 83, of Dover, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010.


Friends of the late Theresa Sturnialo, 83, of Dover, may call on the family from2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Sturnialo will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover.

Mrs. Sturnialo died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at the Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Todisco.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Sturnialo worked as a hairdresser but had mainly dedicated her life to being a homemaker. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking for family and friends. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts.

She had a special place in her heart for her pets and in general loved animals. She was a kind and considerate person who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Sturnialo, who died in 2007.

Mrs. Sturnialo is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Lorraine and Philip Iacone of Dover and Teresa and Domenick Palumbo of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter and Nancy Sturnialo of Staten Island, and Anthony Sturnialo of Dover; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
