‘Insurance that matters’ hallmark of new firm

The trio behind Dover’s newest insurance agency say they offer something much larger firms promise, but often don’t deliver: personal service.
“We have insurance that actually covers you,” said Desmon Hughes, one of three partners in the Mercy Insurance Group, which opened its doors Jan. 1.
“If you have an unfortunate accident or another need for us, we’ll make you whole again,” he said.
Hughes and his associates, Ken Hutchinson and Kevin Munson, have more than 20 years of combined management and insurance experience. Munson and Hughes, who both worked for MBNA in Wilmington, decided to leave corporate life behind and teamed up with Hutchinson, who had worked more than eight years at a local Dover insurance firm.
The most distinctive thing about Mercy Insurance is they offer individual service where the aim is to make sure each customer knows what they’re getting for their money and is comfortable with their policy, Munson said.
“Our goal is to educate our policy holders on every aspect of their policies,” he said. “We look at insurance as a financial tool as well as security.”
An independent agency, Mercy Insurance draws from many companies to craft tailor-made packages that include life, auto, renters and homeowners coverage, plus more, Hutchinson said.
They cater to all types of clientele, “from 16 to 65,” Hughes said.
Mercy Insurance Group is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Located at 91 Saulsbury Road, they may be reached at 730-4060, via email at cus tomers@mercyins.com, or via their website, www.mercyins.com.
