Doris Geneva Harvey. 67, of Magnolia, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009.

    Friends of the late Doris Geneva Harvey, 67, of Magnolia, may call on the family at noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the McKnatt, Carpenter and Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where services will be held at 1 p.m.

    Ms. Harvey died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.

    Born in Zebulon, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Richard Holdmon and Martha Wainwright Murray.

    Ms. Harvey began her career working in housekeeping at the Milford Memorial Hospital for eight years. She was a homemaker for several years and in 1982, went to work for DART First State as both a dispatcher and a bus driver. She left because of disability in 1990.

    She was a member of TOPS in Wyoming, enjoyed needlepoint, doing crossword puzzles, camping and going to yard sales. She loved her pets and was an avid dog lover. She loved babies, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

    Ms. Harvey is survived by her companion, Floyd Mitchell of Magnolia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda and Alvin Strauser of Felton and Brenda Birkholtz of Magnolia; two sons, Franklin Harvey of Magnolia and Raymond Harvey of Wilmington; two sisters, Marjorie Chambers of Greenwood and Louis Williamson of Lincoln; her grandchildren, Cynthia, Jessica, Crystal, Patrick, Robert, Doris and Marguerite; and 14 great-grandchildren.

    Interment will be in the Hollywood Cemetery, east of Harrington.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ms. Harvey’s name may be made to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
