Thomas Burton Morris, 79, of Dover, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009.
Friends of the late Thomas Burton Morris, 79, of Dover, may call on the family at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Mr. Morris died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at home.
Born Jan. 1, 1930, in Dover, he was the son of the late Alfred N. Morris and Edith Sammons Morris.
Mr. Morris attended Fork Branch School until eighth grade, and then worked on his parent’s farm until the age of 18 when he began working for George & Lynch. He joined the U.S. Army at age 20 and served two years, then to work at George & Lynch. He was a valued employee for 48 years retiring in 1996.
He was a life member of the Silverlake Fishing Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Ridgeway Morris, whom he married Feb. 14, 1955; five children, Linda, Wayne, Helen, Phillip and Kevin; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Allen, Carlos and George; and a sister, Gladys Burrell.
Interment will be in Fork Branch Cemetery.
